The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art displays a remarkable collection of modern western and Iranian art.

The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) has displayed a remarkable collection of modern western and Iranian art.

A selection of paintings by Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon and other great artists from different genres are on show at the exhibition entitled ‘Berlin-Rome Travelers’ in the TMCA.

The exhibit has a total of 30 western artists and 30 works by Iranian figures, such as Sohrab Sepehri, Mohsen Vaziri, Monir Farmanfarmaian and Parviz Tanavoli.

The selection was chosen from the treasury of the museum and will be displayed in Tehran before departing for exhibitions in Germany and Italy.

TMCA held previous exhibitions of world-famous Western artists, including Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell and Mark Rothko.

An abstract impressionist painting by Iranian artist Manucher Yektai, who lives in New York, is in the museum’s collection as well.

The museum’s collection of modern western art is thought to be worth more than 2.5 billion dollars in total, more than any other collection outside of the United States and Europe.
